The Nest

2025

Material
latex, steel

This sculptural seating piece reimagines non-precious, industrial materials — steel wool and latex — into a zoomorphic, living form. Blurring the line between synthetic and organic, functional and emotional, it challenges conventional furniture design.

Born from material research on animating the inanimate, The Nest pairs the abrasive texture of steel wool with the softness and elasticity of latex to create a creature-like presence that feels at once protective and unsettling.

In a world of mass-produced, sanitized design, it suggests a return to raw, affective materiality — furniture not just as object, but as presence: animate, responsive, and alive, subtly transforming the space around it.
